More features are available to Evernote users, but this requires a subscription. Users can sort by the date the note was created or the date it was updated, by title, and by tag. Organization is also far more customizable, too. There are more than a dozen templates to choose from for each note, multiple formatting options, tags, and much more.

Users can also sort between regular notes and reminders. When it comes to finding notes, users have two options: the default Grid View and a List View. It provides users with a simple way to take notes and little else. Google Keep is simple, without a lot of unnecessary bells and whistles. You can also add reminders to notes, color code them, and create custom tags. Users can create four different types of notes: text, image, drawing, and lists. I highly recommended Apple Notes over Evernote for most use cases with no hesitation.Google Keep organizes notes in a post-it note fashion, allowing users to see a brief synopsis of what each note contains at a glance. I never ever thought that I would leave the green elephant - but I have - and I feel vindicated. I have a workaround for sending emails to apple notes and the transition has been smooth - I have programmed my scansnap to send direct to apple notes - and all has gone like clockwork. In the end I chose the simplicity and speed of Apple Notes, it's tight integration with Apple devices and it's ability to accept quick notes - too cool.
I found myself relying on a plethora of other apps integrated to EN to satisfy my workflow - realising this madness - I researched all the alternatives I found that there were many to choose from. Its ecosystem is dated and confusing - Penultimate, scannable and skitch -are all obsolete.
My disillusionment came with the complete lack of development around pdf annotation and handwriting and the increasing bloat.įor example, why EN chooses to compete in the task management space and not keep it's core offering sharp is a mystery. For me, it was even more difficult due to my eight plus years as an Evernote power user, 10k plus notes, and being a rather passionate EN advocate and implementer in many business environments.
